ScriptSure Cloud ERX v2.0 and later includes the ability to add compound medications to the drug database and then use that compound medication to prescribe it for any patient. Creating a compound is similar to essentially adding a new medication to ScriptSure’s drug database. It is a "template" you are creating, or in other words, a base version of the medication users can select and then modify as needed when prescribing the medication.
The steps below will show you how to Setup a compound medication for the users of the application. Any user with permission can setup a compound medication.
STEPS:
- Login to ScriptSure: https://app.scriptsure.com/login
- Search for and select ANY patient! A patient must be selected to get to the drug search window (compound/specialty) tab in order to setup a compound. Setting up with a patient selected DOES NOT MEAN you will be prescribing it for the patient. You are simply creating it as a medication that can be added to the application and used to prescribe any medication.
- Click the button:
- When the medication search window opens, click Compound/Specialty button:
- Click on "Setup Compound"
IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE SETUP BUTTON, YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSIONS TO SETUP A COMPOUND MEDICATION. YOU CAN SELECT AN EXISTING COMPOUND TO PRESCRIBE FOR A PATIENT, BUT YOU CANNOT CREATE A NEW ONE.
6. Enter an On‐Screen Title and an On‐Screen Comment for the Compound and Click "Add Compound". (The Title will be the name of the compound when selecting it on‐screen; this name is only visible in ScriptSure and does not send to the pharmacy! You will set the name of the drug the pharmacist will see in the next steps. The Comment is also only visible in ScriptSure and will indicate to users what it the medication is used for.)
7. From the list of compounds medications, select the compound you created then click "Edit" across "Compound"
8. The Compound Window will open and you can then set what Ingredients, Quantity, Directions and Pharmacy would you like to set for the compound medication.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The preferred name and the INGREDIENT 1 name can be the same!!! At least one ingredient must be on all compounds so if the preferred name is description enough in terms of what is needed, individual ingredients do not need to be added, but you can REPEAT whatever the preferred name is in the ingredient 1 drug description. There is a Quantity for Ingredient 1 and a FINAL QUANTITY. Both of these will be the same when you only 1 ingredient.
9. Proceed to "How to Prescribe a Compound Medication" article to prescribe the compound medication you created.
