The following steps apply to prescribers only. This ONE-TIME setup takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
Contact support@dawsystems.com or 866-755-1500 x2 with any questions or issues during setup.
STEP 1: (VERY IMPORTANT) be sure to use GOOGLE CHROME or APPLE SAFARI web browser when signing up. You may encounter issues with advancing through screens if you do not use one of these browsers.
STEP 2: Check your email for an email titled INVITE TO SCRIPTSURE.
NOTE: Be sure to check JUNK/SPAM/OTHER mailboxes. The email is from accounts@dawsystems.com
If the email link opens in another browser, you can copy the address line into Chrome and proceed.
STEP 3: Click SET UP ACCOUNT button in the email:
STEP 4: When you click Setup Account, you will immediately be brought to the ID.ME to SIGN UP FOR AN ACCOUNT FOR ID.ME. The following steps show you how to do this. ID.ME is required for each prescriber. ID.ME is used to perform identity proofing of you as a prescriber; the DEA requires you undergo ID proofing (process whereby you enter personal information to verify you are the person signing up for access to prescribe).
- In the Sign Up window, enter your email and set a password, accept the terms and click Sign Up:
- TIP: USE THE SAME EMAIL & PASSWORD YOU USE TO LOGIN TO SCRIPTSURE
STEP 5: You will then be asked to Confirm your email address; login to your email and click the link in your email to confirm:
Step 5a: In your email, you will see a message asking you to confirm your ID.ME account.
Step 6: After confirming your email, a browser tab will open and tell you your email has been confirmed.
YOU MAY NOW CLOSE THIS CONFIRMATION TAB. You may need to find the previous tab in your browser you were working on to continue (see red arrow above pointing to the other tab).
Step 7: Next, you will need to secure your ID.ME account. To do this, select the 2-factor authentication option you want to use. Most users opt for the PUSH NOTIFICATION option as this is the simplest and easiest to use and recommended, but you can select the text message option as well. (If you ever want to change your method in the future, you can do so by updating your ID.ME settings).
- PUSH NOTIFICATION OPTION (RECOMMENDED): If you select Push Notification, you will need to download the ID.ME authentication app to your phone. When you do this, anytime you prescribe a controlled substance, you will need to approve the medication on the app on your phone:
- TEXT MESSAGE: If you select text message, every time you write a controlled substance, you will receive a test message or call with a 6-digit code. You will then need to type the 6-digit code into the ScriptSure E-Prescribing web page to send the prescription.
Step 8: Select Text message to receive a text with a link to download the ID.ME app on your cell phone (enter your cell phone number):
STEP 9: The next screen will tell you to check your phone for the text message with a link to download the ID.ME app. Open your text messages and click the link to follow the steps on your phone to download the app and approve Scriptsure for access to your ID.ME account:
Step 10: After downloading the app and approving the verification on the ID.ME phone app, you will then see the browser screen automatically forward to the “YOUR ACCOUNT IS SECURE” window. Click Continue.
Step 11: The final Steps are to VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY. The DEA requires all prescribers that send controlled substances electronically to pharmacies MUST BE IDENTIFIED. This is done by one of the methods shown on screen: Answer questions, upload driver’s license photo or upload passport or passport card. The simplest method is typically to answer questions about your credit history. This will require you to enter personal info (home address, DOB, Social Security # and cell phone). THIS DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR CREDIT OR CAUSE A HIT ON YOUR CREDIT. Also, none of your personal information entered during these steps is stored (DOB, SSN#, etc.).
Click Start Now on Answers questions about your credit history unless you prefer an alternate method. This is recommended though. Enter all data on the following screens and click Continue. BE SURE TO ENTER A MOBILE PHONE # THAT IS IN YOUR NAME WHEN YOU DO YOUR IDENTITY VERIFICATION.
Step 12: If your identity is found, you will be given 3 questions to answer on screen. If you answer them correctly, you will see a confirmation window and can click Complete.
Step 13: If you could not be identified, you may want to click the RETRY button and consider the other ID verification options shown in Step 11 above:
Step 14: If you answered all questions correctly you will see an ID verified window – Click Verify to continue.
Step 15: You will now be navigated back to the ScriptSure program windows in the browser. At this first window you can confirm your name and email address and medical license data or enter as needed and click NEXT:
STEP 16: Enter a PASSWORD that complies with the password requirements and confirm it. Click Complete when done.
Step 17: Select your E-Prescribing options. Read each question and select the desired service level and click NEXT.
Step 18: The program will automatically confirm your registration for the electronic network and you can then click complete:
Step 19: Agree to all terms and then you will be logged in to ScriptSure.
STEP 20: : You can now login to ScriptSure at www.scriptsure.com using your username (your email address) and the password you set.
FINAL NOTE: A SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR AT YOUR ACCOUNT MUST LOGIN AND APPROVE YOU FOR ANY CONTROLLED PRESCRIBING. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PRESCRIBE A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE UNTIL THIS IS DONE. INFORM YOUR SUPERVISOR OR ADMINISTRATION OR IT THAT YOU HAVE COMPLETED SIGNUP AND NEED TO BE APPROVED BY AN ADMIN. THE ADMIN CAN THEN LOGIN AND APPROVE YOU BY CLICKING ON EPCS REQUESTS AND THEN THE CHECK BOX NEXT TO YOUR NAME.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
If you see an error message of any kind, you will need to either go back (right click on the ID.ME window then click Back multiple times until you are back at step 11 above) and re-enter and retry your personal info. For example, if you were recently married and you enter your married name, you should be sure to try to use your maiden name when trying to retry verification as the credit bureau may not have updated the name yet. Another example would be if you moved within the last 6 months and the new address is not yet updated with the credit bureau. A final example would be if you have entered a MOBILE or CELL number that is NOT IN YOUR NAME! The ID process checks the ownership of the mobile phone entered to confirm identity. If this was issued by a corporation, employer or is in the name of a spouse or other person, you cannot use that number to verify your ID. Sample Error:
If you continue to get an error, you can verify using one of the alternate methods, including doing this with an on-line support rep.
