ScriptSure and Safari browser - Session Token and/or ID.me sign-in issue

The following article applies to the usage of ScriptSure and Safari Browser.  ScriptSure is fully compliant and compatible with Apple Safari web browser.  As a default, Safari has a SETTING that must be disabled in order to use ScriptSure communication properly.


The SETTING us under Privacy and is called WEBSITE TRACKING:   Prevent Cross-Site Tracking


In relation to ScriptSure and an EMR/EHR and ScriptSure and ID.me, these are all unique SITES that are communicating with each other.  The prevent cross-site tracking setting on, PREVENTS this needed communication.


The following ONLY apply to users that login to ScriptSure using Safari or use and EMR and have their default computer or device browser set as Safari:

  • If using ScriptSure and EMR/EHR, the Safari setting for website tracking must be turned off!
  • If using ScriptSure to prescribe controlled medications, the Safari setting for website tracking must be turned off!


If you are using an EMR/EHR and the setting is turned on, you will see this Problem will appear and the cause is the prevent cross-site tracking setting in Safari (example below):


If you are using ID.me and get a BLANK SCREEN or an error message, the cause is the prevent cross-site tracking setting in Safari.


STEPS TO RESOLVE:

Please follow these steps to DISABLE the prevent cross-site tracking setting in Safari:

  1. Open Safari on the PC or device and click the Safari Icon in header
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go to Privacy Tab
  4. Uncheck the following setting:
  5. Close the browser
  6. Logout of your EMR and ScriptSure and then log back in and try to E-Prescribe.

 If the above steps still don't work, we suggest a revisit of how these steps are executed as following all these steps should clear out the issue.
