When a user clicks Send to Pharmacy on a prescription order, the prescription routes electronically through the electronic network to the pharmacy. If the pharmacy system being sent to cannot receive it because of an issue with their system, the electronic prescription is converted to a fax (this is called fax failover) and there are three attempts to fax the prescription over a period of approximately 1 hour. If the faxes fail, then a prescription error message comes back into ScriptSure and will show under the pharmacy name.
Note: If the medication is controlled and the pharmacy system is having an issue receiving prescriptions, then the controlled drug prescription immediately is sent back to the user as an error message says something similar to: "Controlled substance cannot be faxed."
What to do:
The issue here is the pharmacy system is down. The solution is to try again later by represcribing the medication OR prescribe the med again and select a different pharmacy destination.
