"Prescribe Using" Permissions (also known as "Prescribing For")

Modified on Tue, 21 May at 3:24 PM

The following permissions relate to what another user can do using your name and medical credentials.  The workflow in many medical settings is nurses assist medical providers in preparing and sending prescriptions.  In ScriptSure ERX, the "Prescribe Using" settings allow for permissions to be given to any user to allow or restrict this workflow.

In order for a Supporting user at your facility to be able to assist in preparing and/or sending prescriptions, you must first give that user permission.

With that permission, the following settings can be set for all users to limit their abilities.  This allow you as the provider to control who can use your name and medical license as well as what they can:

Permissions:

  • Users can e-send NON-CONTROLLED prescriptions without provider approval
    1. Checking on this setting means ALL of the users that have permission to “prescribe for” you will be able to both PREPARE AND SEND.
    2. Leave this unchecked and users can ONLY PREPARE and queue prescriptions to you in ScriptSure; you can then later review all prescriptions prepared and do the final send to the pharmacy.

  • Users can Approve RefillRx Messages from Pharmacies
    1. Checking on this means of the users that have permission to “prescribe using” you will be able to APPROVE AND SEND that response to a pharmacy electronic refill requests.
    2. Leave this unchecked and users cannot approve pharmacy electronic refill requests.  You will need to review and approve or Deny all refills.

  • Users can Deny RefillRx Messages from Pharmacies
    1. Checking on this means of the users that have permission to “prescribe using” you will be able to DENY AND SEND that response to a pharmacy electronic refill requests.
    2. Leave this unchecked and users cannot deny pharmacy electronic refill requests. You will need to review and approve or Deny all refills.

  • Users cannot send CONTROLLED prescriptions
    1. Users can prepare CONTROLLED prescriptions for you, but by law, only providers can approve and send electronically prescribe controlled substances (EPCS).  This setting cannot be removed, unchecked or modified.
