How to Change ID.me Settings to Approve CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES (EPCS)

If you have a new cell phone or new physical token (device) or simply want to change your ID.me profile or settings, you must login to the ID.me website.

Changing the settings here will allow you to change the method you use to approve a controlled prescriptions.

NOTE: The recommended method is to use Push Notification (ID.me Authenticator App).

It is also recommended to perform these steps on a computer or laptop, but you can do this on a tablet or smartphone as well.  If you are using a smartphone, the screens may look slightly different.

STEPS:

1. GO TO:  https://www.id.me/ and click Sign In at the top right (or Click your name if you are already signed in).

2. Enter your email and password and click Sign In.

3. After logging in, click SIGN IN & SECURITY TAB:

4. You may be prompted to confirm your login.  Typically this will be through the AUTHENTICATOR APP on the device you originally setup.  If you no longer have that device (cell phone for example), you can click the update your settings here option – you can then follow the on-screen steps to validate your login and continue on to Step 5.

5. After Getting to the Sign In and Security Tab, you will be able to click Setup Up next to the PUSH NOTIFICATION if you haven’t already set this up (or select whichever method you prefer)

Your account will look similar to this:

 6. After Clicking Setup, you will then Select Text message (this is a method to get the authenticator app on your phone, this is not saying you are selecting text message as an approval method).

Enter your cell (smartphone) number and click to Continue.  After this you will get a text message with a LINK to download the Push Notification (ID.me authenticator app) – you will then see a notice to check your phone texts for a link to download the app to your phone.

7. On your phone, check your text messages for a text like the following:  Click the longer link in the text message:

8. Your phone will then take you through the steps to download the app through the App Store or other relevant app download on your phone.

9. After the app is on your phone, you can OPEN the app and then click YES to approve this SIGN IN on your ID.ME account. This completes the setup.

10. Please go back to your ID.me account, you will now see the following (next to Push notification will be your device and today’s date).

11. Remove old authentication devices if any that you see under TEXT MESSAGE of Phone Call:

If you have been using SMS text to approve prescriptions, will be to REMOVE the TEXT MESSAGE capability by clicking the trash can!
