How to Edit a Queued Prescription Order (modify a pending prescription order)

Modified on Tue, 16 Apr 2024 at 11:14 AM

Prescription orders that have been queued to a provider can be edited by the preparer of the prescription or the provider the prescription was assigned to.  The preparer can be a nurse for example. That nurse is a user that can modify the prescription in full.  (NOTE: The provider or preparer can also DELETE or DENY that prescription from sending to the pharmacy.)

After a prescription is Queued to the provider, the prescription order will appear on the providers queue and in the patients chart.  In both circumstances the option to modify is the same wherever it is done.  The steps below illustrate the steps to modify:

  1. Select the patient
  2. In the patient chart, find the queued (pending) prescription.  At the end of the prescription row is a pen icon used to EDIT the prescription:
  3. When the EDIT is clicked the user is placed back into the prescription preview screen and any field of the prescription order can be edited, including the current prescriber it is queued to.  In the image below, any of the arrow items can be changed and the user can then click SAVE to update the QUEUE to reflect these changes.
  4. After Save is clicked, the order will update on the patient profile and also to the provider's queue (or in the circumstance of a change to the provider, will remove the prescription from the original provider's queue and place it on the newly selected provider's queue).
